In the Spring of 1986, a group of students joined together to realize a project for change: to establish the first environmental law organization in Peru. Based on this commitment to tackle the core problems of the country through far-reaching solutions, the Peruvian Society for Environmental Law (SPDA) was born.
Throughout these years and based on collaborative, cutting-edge work, we have promoted several actions: supporting the processes for the formulation of the Environmental and Natural Resources Code (1990), and the creation of the Environment National Council (1994) and the Ministry of the Environment (2008).
The dream continues to grow. Currently, we have a multidisciplinary team, a presence in most regions of the country, more than 200 alliances with international organizations, and agreements with more than 50 national grassroots organizations, as well as public and private entities. There are more than three generations that have passed through SPDA with the same vision: to build the Peru we want.
