Shirampari: Inheritance of the River is a short documentary film that tells the story of Arlindo, an Ashéninka leader who passes on to his eleven-year-old son, Ricky, the complicated technique of diving in waters with very low visibility to hook giant catfish. The film, recorded entirely in the Ashéninka language, addresses issues such as the transmission of knowledge essential to life in the jungle, identity and the importance of territory.
