Law degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) with a second major in Environmental and Natural Resources Law from the PUCP. She holds a Master’s Degree in Government and Public Policy from the PUCP. She is the Coordinator of the Second Specialization Program in Environmental and Natural Resources Law at the PUCP.
She has been Director of the Environmental Policy and Governance Program of the Peruvian Society for Environmental Law (SPDA), where she has worked since 1998. She is a member of the Commission on Environmental Law of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and a member of the Expert Group to support the process of implementation of the IUCN Green List of Protected and Conserved Areas standard in Peru. She has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Fund for the Management of Water Resources of the Chillon, Rimac and Lurin River Basins – Aquafondo and of the Technical Advisory Board of the National Environmental Certification Service for Sustainable Investments – Senace.
She has experience in management and public policies for strengthening environmental institutions in the country, sectoral environmental legislation, sectoral regulation of extractive industries and infrastructure projects and their development compatible with the conservation of natural resources and protected natural areas. She is a consultant specialized in issues related to environmental governance, legislative and political frameworks, decentralization and environment, among others; author of several specialized publications on environmental law; lecturer at national and international level on environmental issues; consultant to bilateral and multilateral cooperation agencies on issues related to natural resources law, environmental impact assessment and control.
She has actively participated in the development of the environmental regulatory framework, such as the current General Environmental Law, the law creating the National Environmental Certification Service for Sustainable Investments (Senace), and regulations related to environmental compensation and monitoring.
