Carolina Butrich Schwartzmann is currently the manager of Conservamos por Naturaleza (We conserve for Nature) initiative at the Peruvian Society for Environmental Law (SPDA), a team she has been a part of since 2015.
Carolina holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering from the Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina. She has experience in project management and ecotourism through the Seminar on Planning and Management of Tourism in Protected Areas at the University of Colorado and the Specialization in Sustainable Active Tourism at the Latin American Ecotourism Foundation.
As the manager of Conservamos por Naturaleza, an initiative that seeks to involve more people in nature conservation through collective actions and a collaborative platform, she leads the overall coordination of successful campaigns such as Reforestamos por Naturaleza (We reforest by Nature), Aceleradores por Naturaleza (Accelerators by Nature) and La Ruta Natural (The Natural Route). She also develops and implements high quality funding proposals, maintains excellent relationships with donors, and fosters alliances with other civil society entities and government agencies for the development of our projects.
Carolina is the coordinator of Hazla por tu Ola (Do it for your Wave), a citizen campaign that has channeled the legal protection of 43 breakers in the framework of the Law of Breakers suitable for Sports Practice, winner of Premios Latinoamérica Verde 2020 in the Oceans category and the National Environmental Award 2020 in the Environmental Knowledge category. Carolina has received the Carlos Ponce del Prado Conservation Award in the Outstanding Young Professional category in 2019.
